ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

Ayurveda

Ayurveda “science of life” is one of the oldest health care systems on earth, and originated in India more than 5,000 years ago. Its main objective is to achieve optimal health and well-being through a comprehensive approach that addresses mind, body, behavior, and environment. It is initially facilitated under the guidance of an Ayurvedic doctor. PRAJNA Holistic Retreats Bali offers Ayurvedic methods for detoxification.

Nutrition plays a central role in Ayurvedic living. Healthy and wholesome food provides strength, vigor, good complexion and nurtures the health of the tissues as a means to good life, health and wellness.

Ayurveda emphasizes prevention and health promotion, and provides treatment for dis-ease. It considers the development of consciousness to be essential for optimal health and meditation as the main technique for achieving this. Treatment of dis-ease is highly individualized and depends on the psychophysiologic constitution of the patient. Spices and herbs play a part in the Ayurvedic method of healing, meaning that those with some knowledge of Ayurveda are able to heal their own conditions without the assistance of an ayurvedic doctor, by cooking with ingredients that may be bought in a health food store.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key component in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It works on the body’s meridians in order to clear energy blocks and make way for the normal flow of qi (“life energy”) throughout the body. This technique involves inserting the tip of fine-pointed needles into specific points on the body, to promote healing and relieve symptoms of ill health. Acupuncture is accepted by most medical associations and protocols of evidence-based medicine as a safe and efficient treatment for a range of conditions, including treatment for mild depression, burnout treatment, anxiety, panic attacks and many more.

Acupressure

Acupressure triggers the same points as acupuncture to release muscular tensions, stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities and balance the emotions. It reaches to the core of many of the emotional disorders and stress-related physical problems.  Though acupuncture is predominantly an element of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupressure is used by a variety of different healing modalities.  In Ayurveda, acupressure points are known as “Marma points”, and may be manipulated by a skilled Ayurvedic doctor to improve the flow of energy in the body.  Activating certain acupressure points in the body can play a part in burnout treatment and treatment for mild depression.

There are also acupressure points for regaining stability, clearing the mind, reducing cravings, and heightening morale, self-esteem, and self-confidence.  These are practical coping tools for clients to work on emotional issues at home, for lasting success in changing habitual mental and emotional patterns, beliefs and hidden programs.

Self-care routines with step-by-step instructions  to use anywhere and anytime will enable you to participate actively in your own healing.

Usadha - Balinese traditional medicine

Traditional Balinese life revolves around tri hita karana literally “the three causes of well-being” or “three reasons for prosperity”. It’s a philosophy of how to live deeply connected to and in harmony with nature, with the community, and with the divine – thus in harmony with oneself.

The Usadha practices of rural Bali are an essential part of a healthy life. Balinese traditional healing practices utilize natural herbs and spices, holistic therapeutic elixirs, body scrubs, oils and ancient wisdom to treat many forms of dis-ease.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy focuses on stimulating the body’s own healing ability and immune system to restore health. After thorough analysis of each patient’s presenting symptoms, mental, emotional, and environmental links are explored, and a homeopathic medicine chosen from one of thousands of nature’s elements that will stimulate the body’s inner healing ability. Both acute and chronic ailments are treated in a safe, gentle, and effective way.  Homeopathy can be used to treat any condition, and can be used for burnout treatment and treatment of mild depression.
